Founder
Jackie Leong started OURS Eatery with her friends to promote healthy eating among the masses. Previously a Commis Chef at the St Regis Hotel, Shannon Teng is currently the Sous Chef of OURS Eatery.
Inspiration
Malaysians love comfort foods. After her mother was diagnosed with health problems, Leong wanted to be able to offer the taste of comfort food minus the unhealthy, sinful ingredients.
Signature dish
Oatmeal Nasi Lemak - a healthier version of Nasi Lemak, this dish substitutes rice with creamy oatmeal and fried chicken with shimeji mushrooms.
Advice for food operators
Jackie gives a solid piece of advice on keeping the food prices affordable. “Use the same ingredients across different menu items to keep your prices low through volume purchase.”
2019 health food prediction
Plant-based protein, as a substitute for meat, will gain popularity. More people will opt for vegetable proteins such as tofu, quinoa, whole grains and more which has high nutritional values.
