Tips when using turmeric
- Be careful when handling turmeric – it stains! Wear gloves to avoid staining your hands, and if you’ve stained your clothes or apron with it, quickly wash the area with soap and water before the colour sets in.
- Always keep dried turmeric powder in a sealed container, stored in a cool place. If you’ve purchased fresh turmeric roots, keep them fresh in the refrigerator.
- Turmeric doesn’t always have to change the flavour of your food. You can simply use it as colouring when you want to add some vibrancy into otherwise plain-looking dishes like mashed potatoes, quinoa, eggs, or broths.
- You can also add turmeric to smoothies or soups to fortify them with health-boosting properties without altering the taste.
- Turmeric can be used to season vegetables. Simply sprinkle some turmeric and olive oil to add some zest to your veggies!
