Tips when using turmeric
Be careful when handling turmeric – it stains! Wear gloves to avoid staining your hands, and if you’ve stained your clothes or apron with it, quickly wash the area with soap and water before the colour sets in.
Always keep dried turmeric powder in a sealed container, stored in a cool place. If you’ve purchased fresh turmeric roots, keep them fresh in the refrigerator.
Turmeric doesn’t always have to change the flavour of your food. You can simply use it as colouring when you want to add some vibrancy into otherwise plain-looking dishes like mashed potatoes, quinoa, eggs, or broths.
You can also add turmeric to smoothies or soups to fortify them with health-boosting properties without altering the taste.
